JOY FROST
EPK
Joy Frost is known for her blend of modern pop with vintage jazz, her emotional lyrics, her unique song themes, and her dark, velvet voice which spans over three octaves. Songwriter Robin Frederick described Joy's voice as neo-soul and compared her to Amy Winehouse. One of Joy's fans described her as "Joss Stone meets Nora Jones, time travelling to hang out with Bishop Briggs, Adele and Billie Eilish in their sunniest moments." With over 5 million streams on Spotify, Joy has received editorial love in the exclusive playlists: ‘Ballads Forever’, ‘Chill Covers’, & ‘Zuhause’.
Joy's core mission as an artist is to encourage her audience to look after their mental health and to live in their authenticity. Donning a glitter bra and combat boots, Joy combines a performance of pole dance and singing jazz pop while honoring her eclectic mix of inspirations Ella Fitzgerald, Shirley Manson, David Bowie & Janet Jackson, all while putting the B in LGBTQ+.
Joy writes her own songs as well as co-writes for several beloved artists in Germany, including Lord of The Lost and Scarlet Dorn. She performed with Lord of the Lost in 2020 on their single Dying On The Moon. Her music has been used by companies such as Lidl & Disney, as well as placed in award winning television series like ‘The Fosters’, & ‘Sneaky Pete’ (Amazon Prime). She was nominated in London for the PRS Awards as ‘Best Newcomer’ in 2019. In 2022, she performed a virtual concert to 1.4 million players in the hit game ‘Avakin Life’, extending her work into the metaverse. Before the pandemic, Joy spent many years paying her dues as a busker on Grafton Street. Now she is a voting member of The Recording Academy for The Grammy Awards.
After the success of her sophomore album 'Sexual Woman', she is in partnership with AWAL for her next album release in 2024, The Roaring 2020's.
