Ireland based, Utah Born indie-pop solo artist Joy Frost is reinforcing her true sound in 2023, extending her repertoire of acoustic sad girl songs, and adding a bit more fun & vintage jazz influence into her modern pop music.

Joy is doubling down on the sultry jazz-pop fusion sound she first debuted in her 2021 single, 'I Wanna Be Loved By You', a reiminaged jazz cover with a modern pop production. The song was from her successful album, Sexual Woman, which has over 4.5 million streams on Spotify. I Can't Stand You is the first single off her next album coming this summer. It is all a part of her mission to help create The Roaring 2020's.

I Can't Stand You is a slow and sultry power ballad that maintains a fun and cheeky energy. The new song is a sultry blues-pop ballad about that one person you just can't stand. The jazz horns are laid over a modern trap beat while the big belted vocal has a playful vibe paired with the scooping bass. It's an anthem about that one person you just can't stand, who you wish you could cut ties with forever. To promote the single, Joy created several silly videos on TikTok using the song to write letters to abstract things she can't stand, such as her depression, her anxiety and her split ends.

Joy says, "'I Can't Stand You' is about learning to allow yourself to express all sides of your authenticity, both the light and the dark, allowing them to exist together. If your upbringing, like mine, has caused you to learn self-censorship as a survival tactic and has now made you afraid to be yourself, this song is for you. I sat on this song for a few years because I felt guilt and shame about even experiencing anger in the first place, so I didn't dare release one of my top secret angry songs! But after a ton of therapy I'm learning how much inner peace comes along with not holding my tongue out of fear to preserve love which was built on silence. So I've started speaking my mind. Yes it's cost me a few friends, but this song is me practicing more authenticity in not just my music, but in my life too. It is so freeing to allow myself to feel all of my emotions, not just the so-called 'positive' ones. That's what this song is about."
